The shareholders of McAfee & Taft, Oklahoma’s largest law firm, have elected Robert L. Garbrecht as the newest member of its board of directors. He joins Michael Blake, Jennifer Callahan, Michael Joseph, Michael Lauderdale, Rick Mullins and managing director Richard Nix on the seven-member board.
Garbrecht is a commercial transactions attorney who principally practices in the areas of business acquisitions, finance, real estate, and state and local taxation law. He has substantial experience in structuring and negotiating business acquisitions and strategic business relationships, including public-private partnerships as well as in entity organization and governance matters. His real estate practice focuses on the acquisition, development, leasing and financing of real property.
A certified public accountant since 1987, Garbrecht also represents clients in all aspects of state and local taxation matters, especially ad valorem taxation matters. Prior to entering law school, he practiced in the tax department of an international accounting firm.
He is a frequent author and lecturer on a variety of business matters at seminars conducted by civic and professional organizations and has been an adjunct professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Prior to his election to the firm’s board, he served as leader of the firm’s Real Estate Group.
