As part of our continuing commitment to diversity, McAfee & Taft has established a Women’s Initiative Committee to focus on the professional development of our female attorneys. The committee aims to encourage and support our female attorneys’ leadership within the firm, and to foster and support their active involvement in the community. The objectives of the committee are designed to ensure that McAfee & Taft continues to recruit, retain and promote excellent female attorneys.
McAfee & Taft has a philosophy of inclusion that lends itself to the advancement and development of our female attorneys. Jennifer Callahan serves on our board of directors, and women hold positions on a majority of our committees, including the Recruiting, Diversity, Technology, Human Resources, Ethics and Opinion committees. Myrna Latham is chair of our Ethics Committee, Elizabeth Tyrrell is practice group leader of the Healthcare Practice Group, and Susan Shields is practice group leader of the Tax & Family Wealth Group. Jennifer Wheeler chairs the Women’s Initiative Committee.
The Women’s Initiative group hosts female clients at various events, including Oklahoma City Thunder basketball games, and charitable fundraisers, such as “Wine, Women & Shoes," and has played a lead role in bringing together successful women lawyers from both private practice and industry to candidly answer questions, share life experiences, and provide advice to female students at state law schools.
The committee holds monthly meetings to emphasize mentoring, recruiting, marketing, and business development by our female attorneys. The meetings are open to all attorneys.
