Jim Webb is a trial lawyer whose practice involves the gamut of business-related cases involving corporate governance, shareholder derivative claims, class actions, securities fraud, real estate, insurance, trusts, products liability, employment, oil and gas, healthcare and other commercial controversies.
Jim joined McAfee & Taft in 1995 after practicing several years with a firm in Denver, Colorado.
As part of his recent law practice, Jim was one of the lawyers who tried the case on behalf of The Professional Basketball Club, LLC (owner of the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder) against the City of Seattle. That case led to the team’s relocation to Oklahoma City.
His achievements as a trial lawyer have earned him inclusion in the Chambers USA Guide to America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, The Best Lawyers in America (banking and finance litigation, commercial litigation, labor and employment litigation, mass torts/class actions-defendant litigation, product liability litigation, real estate litigation, securities litigation) and Oklahoma Super Lawyers (business litigation, personal injury defense: products, employment litigation: defense), and recognition as a "local litigation star" in the most recent edition of Benchmark Litigation.
Jim is actively involved in the Oklahoma City legal and business community and contributes a substantial amount of time providing pro bono legal services on all types of matters, particularly to persons with serious mental and/or physical disabilities. He currently serves on the boards of directors of the Alzheimer’s Association, Goodwill Industries of Central Oklahoma, Inc., The Center of Family Love, and A Chance to Change Foundation.
He serves as a volunteer attorney for Legal Aid of Western Oklahoma and volunteers his time each week to work directly with transplant patients at the Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute at Integris Baptist Medical Center.
Jim and his wife have five boys.
Jim has been recognized for his professional and civic contributions to the state by being honored with the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award and the Oklahoma County Bar Association Community Service Award. He was also named to The Journal Record’s 2008 list of Leadership in Law honorees.
