John Hermes is a veteran trial lawyer whose practice encompasses all forms of business-related litigation, including the prosecution and defense of cases involving banking, insurance coverage, franchises, healthcare, oil and gas, products liability, real estate transactions, securities, taxes, trusts, trademarks and other commercial controversies.
John is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and an elected member of The American Law Institute. His achievements have earned him inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America (bet-the-company litigation, commercial litigation, ethics and professional responsibility law, banking and finance litigation, securities litigation), Chambers USA’s Guide to America’s Leading Lawyers for Business (litigation), Legal Media Group's Guide to the Leading US Litigation Lawyers, and Oklahoma Super Lawyers, where he was named to its prestigious list of "Top 10 Oklahoma Lawyers." He was also named "Best Lawyers' 2012 Oklahoma City Banking and Finance Litigation Lawyer of the Year," an honor only given to a single lawyer in each legal specialty in each community.
In 2006, he was recognized for his professional and civic contributions to the state by being named to the Journal Record's list of Leadership in Law honorees. In 2007, the Oklahoma Bar Association honored him with its "Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award." He currently serves as chairman of the board of directors of Oklahoma Lawyers for Children, a not-for-profit organization in Oklahoma dedicated to providing legal services to abused, neglected and deprived children in Oklahoma County.
John previously served as the firm's managing director for six years.
Prior to entering law school, John served in the U.S. Army as a captain in military intelligence for four years.
