Robert Gilliland is a veteran trial lawyer whose practice concentrates in the area of business litigation in both state and federal courts, including oil and gas litigation, environmental litigation, products liability and securities litigation.
He is a frequent lecturer on various legal topics at trial advocacy seminars. Robert’s publications/presentations include “Dealing With Aggressive Deposition Tactics” (Oklahoma Bar Association, 1988); “Selection of the Jury – A Lost Art” (Oklahoma County Bar Association, 1989); “A Winning Opening Statement: First Impressions Last,” (Oklahoma County Bar Association, 1990); “Closing Argument – The Last Word” (Oklahoma County Bar Association, 1991); Oklahoma Products Liability Forum, “Discovery and Admissibility of Evidence of Similar Accidents and Injuries in a Products Case” (1992); “The Juror,” American Inn of Court (1998).
Following his admission to the Oklahoma Bar, Robert served four years as a captain in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the U.S. Army.
Robert holds the distinction of being one of only a handful of lawyers in the United States to be selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America (bet-the-company litigation, commercial litigation, energy law, environmental litigation, real estate litigation, securities litigation) in every year of the publication’s existence, spanning more than 20 years.
