Since 1987, Teresa Purcell has worked as a paralegal specializing in all facets of intellectual property law. She began her career with Dougherty & Hessin, an Oklahoma City-based boutique intellectual property firm, and then later joined McAfee & Taft when the two firms joined in 1998. Her responsibilities include preparing all types of documents used in connection with the preparation and filing of patent applications, trademark clearance, registration and maintenance, copyright registration, and intellectual property litigation. She also coordinates and manages a network of foreign associates in connection with international applications.
As part of her specialized education, Teresa has participated in the INTA Trademark Administrators Conference and intellectual property courses offered through the University of Oklahoma’s legal assistant program. She is also a member of the Central Oklahoma Association of Legal Assistants.
Teresa has previously served on the board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and of My Friend’s House, a summer day care program for school-aged children. She has also volunteered her time as a tutor for Gatewood Elementary School in Oklahoma City.
