Biography
Jim Webb is a trial lawyer whose practice involves the gamut of business-related litigation, including products liability, mass tort (including asbestos defense), labor and employment, insurance, real estate, oil and gas, and other commercial controversies.
Jim joined McAfee & Taft in 1995 after practicing several years with a firm in Denver. Jim currently serves on McAfee & Taft’s board of directors.
As part of his recent law practice, Jim was one of the lawyers who tried the case on behalf of The Professional Basketball Club, LLC (owner of the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder) against the City of Seattle. That case led to the team's relocation to Oklahoma City.
His achievements in the area of litigation earned him recognition as a "local litigation star" in the 2009 edition of Benchmark Litigation. This honor is based on a year-long research process that includes extensive face-to-face interviews with leading legal professionals, in-house counsel and business owners that the publishers use to determine the top litigation firms and individuals.
Jim is actively involved in the Oklahoma City legal and business community and contributes a substantial amount of time providing pro bono legal services on all types of matters, particularly to persons with serious mental and/or physical disabilities. He currently serves as general counsel of Oklahoma Youth Symphonies and as a member of the board of directors of the Center of Family Love in Okarche and the 5207 Western Foundation in Oklahoma City.
He serves as a volunteer attorney for the DHS Safe Haven Program and volunteers his time each week to work directly with transplant patients at the Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute at Integris Baptist Medical Center.
Jim and his wife have five boys, so much of his time is spent in and around little league sports, where he has coached soccer for more than 20 years.
Jim has been recognized for his professional and civic contributions to the state by being recently honored with the Oklahoma Bar Association's Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award and the Oklahoma County Bar Association Community Service Award. He was also recently named to the Journal Record's list of Leadership in Law honorees.
