Biography

Maria Gonzalez joined McAfee & Taft in 2006 and focuses her practice on aviation matters, including the documentation of aircraft transactions and aircraft title and registration matters.  Her practice involves the review of FAA records for aircraft, engines and propellers, and advising clients regarding title issues as well as liens and encumbrances of record at the FAA.  She also reviews security agreements, leases, bills of sale and other documents to ensure compliance with FAA regulations and procedures and advises clients on matters arising under the Cape Town Convention with regard to the filings of interests and prospective interests in aircraft with the International Registry. 
 
While a student at the University of Oklahoma College of Law, Maria founded the Hispanic American Law Student Association, served as president for the Organization for the Advancement of Women in Law and as vice magistrar of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity, was a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association Moot Court Competition Team and the ABA Negotiation Competition Team, and served as a research assistant for Peter F. Krug, the college’s Herman G. Kaiser Foundation Chair in International Law.  She was also the recipient of two merit-based scholarships and earned academic achievement awards in Legal Research, Writing, and Advocacy I and II.
 
Maria is fluent in Spanish and proficient in both French and Italian.
