Biography

Richard Miller joined McAfee & Taft in 2006 and concentrates his practice in all aspects of intellectual property law, including trademarks, copyrights, patents, software and computer law, unfair competition and trade secrets. 

In addition to being an honors graduate from the Oklahoma City University School of Law, Richard holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical aerospace engineering from Oklahoma State University and a master’s degree in engineering management from the University of Dayton.

Prior to embarking on a legal career, Richard served on active duty as an officer in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years.  During the course of his military career, Richard was involved in researching, developing and testing cutting-edge high-energy lasers and optics and overseeing the complex developmental and operational test design and analysis of Air Force weapons and aircraft platforms.  His responsibilities also included procuring new military aircraft, sustaining old aircraft, and fielding and overseeing contractor operations of drone aircraft. 

In 1990, he was honored as the “U.S. Air Force Weapons Laboratory Technical Manager of the Year.”  He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a major in 2005.
