Biography
Ryan Lobato’s practice encompasses all areas of intellectual property, including trademarks, copyrights, patents, software and computer law, internet law, unfair competition and trade secrets.
Since joining McAfee & Taft in 2008, Ryan has assisted in preparing and prosecuting both foreign and domestic patent applications as well as numerous trademark and patent searches and infringement evaluations. He has also prepared a variety of trademark office action responses and has participated in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as well as assisting in trademark litigation in federal court. In addition, Ryan has experience addressing a variety of online infringements and social media related issues.
Prior to embarking on a legal career, Ryan attended the U.S. Naval Academy, earning his degree in computer science with an emphasis in network architecture, and served on active duty for six years as an officer in the U.S. Navy onboard nuclear fast attack submarines. During his service, Ryan was officially certified by the Department of Naval Reactors as a nuclear engineer. Due to his extensive training, Ryan has intimate knowledge of mechanical systems and fundamental engineering principles, hydrodynamics, acoustics, thermodynamics, electrical engineering, chemistry and atomic physics.
