According to U.S. Department of Labor data, the average American changes jobs about every two years. That's surprising news to Betty Northcutt, who was interviewed by The Journal Record for a story on longevity in the workplace.
Northcutt has worked as a certified public accountant at McAfee & Taft for more than five decades. She originally joined the law office of Kenneth McAfee, a noted tax and oil & gas attorney, in 1950 on the advice of a university professor. Except for taking five years off to have children in the 1950s, she has been an eyewitness to more than 50 years of growth at McAfee & Taft, which now ranks as the state's largest law firm.
