Brandon Long Honored with
2009 OCBA Community Service Award

Oklahoma City, OK - June 19, 2009

Brandon Long
, an employee benefits attorney with McAfee & Taft, has been honored with the Oklahoma County Bar Association’s 2009 Community Service Award.

In making the presentation, the OCBA highlighted Long’s active commitment to community service, including his involvement as a Big Brother with Big Brothers/Big Sisters for more than 15 years, a weekly hospice volunteer, a member of the board of directors for the Redbud Foundation, and a LifeGroup leader with LifeChurch.

The OCBA Awards Committee chose to “recognize one of our younger members who is not only active in the community, but who leads other young lawyers to get involved,” president Jim Kirk announced during the presentation.

“Last December, Brandon rounded up some young lawyers and helped pass out gifts at the Salvation Army Christmas program at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds.  He is not only an inspiration to his four children, but serves as an example to all of us in the legal community that we can do a little more to make the world a better place.”

In 2008, Long was selected by his peers to receive the Outstanding Director Award from the Young Lawyers Division of the Oklahoma County Bar Association (OCBA). He was selected for the award by his peers and fellow board members based on his contributions to the Young Lawyers Division and the Oklahoma County legal community. Earlier this year, Long was recognized for his professional and civic contributions to the state by being named to The Journal Record's list of Leadership in Law honorees.
