McAfee & Taft, Oklahoma’s largest law firm, announced today that Jeb Boatman, a former Assistant U.S. Attorney and Chief of the Appellate Section for the Western District of Oklahoma, has joined the firm. Boatman will concentrate his practice in the areas of white collar criminal defense, internal investigations and compliance programs, enforcement actions and related administrative proceedings, qui tam lawsuits, federal and state grand jury investigations, and complex civil litigation. A portion of his practice will also be devoted to appellate matters.
While at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Boatman oversaw the investigation and prosecution of complex business fraud cases involving allegations of healthcare fraud, money laundering, securities fraud, government program fraud, tax fraud, and fraud by public officials and was successful in securing multimillion-dollar restitution and criminal-forfeiture judgments. In 2010, he was honored with the Award for Excellence from the Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency.
Prior to joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Boatman represented corporate and individual clients in criminal investigations and prosecutions, civil disputes and appellate matters while in private practice with the Washington, DC office of Williams & Connolly. His career experience also includes serving as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Deanell Reece Tacha, then-chief judge of the U.S. 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, from 2003 – 2004.
“We have known for many years how talented a person and lawyer Jeb is, and we are so pleased that he is bringing his wealth of knowledge and legal experience to the firm for the benefit of our clients,” said managing director Richard Nix. “His insight and experience in navigating complex legal issues involving civil and criminal investigations, his in-depth knowledge about the inner workings of governmental and law enforcement agencies, and his experience and understanding of public companies and the healthcare, financial and oil and gas industries, are particularly valuable assets.”
