McAfee & Taft, Oklahoma’s largest law firm, has named attorneys Timothy J. Bomhoff, Justin Jackson, Patricia A. Rogers, Spencer F. Smith and Mary Ellen Ternes as new shareholders. The announcement was made by managing director Richard D. Nix.
Timothy J. Bomhoff is a trial lawyer with nearly 20 years of experience representing clients in broad range of civil litigation matters. His achievements in business litigation have earned him inclusion in Oklahoma Super Lawyers and membership as a Fellow with the Litigation Counsel of America. In addition to his litigation practice, he counsels and trains employers on a wide range of employment issues.
Prior to joining McAfee & Taft in 2007, Bomhoff was a director and shareholder with another Oklahoma City-based law firm. He is a 1984 graduate of Oklahoma State University and a 1988 graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
Justin Jackson is a corporate lawyer whose practice is concentrated on mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance. He regularly counsels clients in connection with private placements and public offerings of debt and equity securities, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, joint ventures and a broad range of other commercial transactions. He also advises clients with respect to securities law compliance, corporate governance, stock exchange regulations and other general corporate matters.
Jackson joined McAfee & Taft in 2000 and holds both a bachelor’s degree and law degree from the University of Oklahoma.
Patricia A. Rogers is a career healthcare professional whose achievements as a healthcare lawyer have earned her recognition in The Best Lawyers in America. She currently serves as the chair of the Health Law Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association and is a member of the Oklahoma Health Lawyers Association and American Health Lawyers Association.
Prior to entering law school, Rogers was employed in management positions with healthcare institutions and served as the coordinator for the Institutional Review Board at an academic medical center. She also previously served as an active duty and reserve officer in the U.S. Air Force Medical Service Corps. Rogers holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh, a master’s degree in health policy and management from Johns Hopkins University, and a law degree from Oklahoma City University.
Spencer F. Smith is a trial lawyer whose practice covers a wide range of commercial litigation matters in both state and federal courts, as well as various arbitration forums. During the course of his career, he has represented leading corporations in a variety of industries, including, technology, insurance, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications and energy.
Prior to joining McAfee & Taft in 2004, Spencer was a litigation associate with the international law firm of Vinson & Elkins for more than six years. The McAlester, OK, native is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas School of Law.
Mary Ellen Ternes is an environmental lawyer and frequent author and speaker on national environmental issues involving regulatory compliance, permitting and enforcement. In addition to being named to The Best Lawyers in America, she has been continuously named to the prestigious list of International Who’s Who of Environment Lawyers since its debut in 2004.
Prior to entering law school, Ternes worked as a chemical engineer for the Environmental Protection Agency in Superfund emergency response/site characterization and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) incinerator permitting, and then as an environmental project officer for a commercial hazardous waste incineration company overseeing RCRA, Toxic Substances Control Act and Clean Air Act permitting and compliance.
Ternes holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Vanderbilt University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law.
