Mindy Blackman joins McAfee & Taft

Oklahoma City, OK - July 6, 2004

 
The law firm of McAfee & Taft has announced that Melinda “Mindy” S. Blackman has joined the firm as an associate with its aviation law practice group.

Widely regarded as having one of the most experienced FAA aviation groups in the United States, McAfee & Taft actively represents local, national and international clients on a wide spectrum of aviation matters, including the documentation of aircraft transactions, aircraft title and registration matters, and aircraft tile insurance. 

Prior to joining McAfee & Taft in 2004, Blackman served as interim assistant general counsel for the Board of Regents of Oklahoma Colleges.  She began her legal career in 2000 as a securities litigation associate with Morrison & Foerester in San Francisco.

The Oklahoma City native graduated from Vanderbilt University with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy in 1993 and studied one year abroad at the University of Leeds in Leeds, England.  She went on to earn her Juris Doctor, with highest honors, from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2000.  While in law school, Blackman was a William T. and James T. Comfort Scholar and was named to the Order of the Coif, Phi Kappa Phi, and the Dean’s Honor Roll.  She also served as chief note editor of Oklahoma Law Review;  judicial extern for the Honorable Lee R. West, U.S. District Court Judge for the Western District of Oklahoma; and teaching assistant  for Legal Writing and Appellate Advocacy.  In addition, Blackman completed summer associate programs with the law firms of McAfee & Taft, Morrison & Foerester, and the Dallas office of Fulbright & Jaworski. 

Blackman was admitted to the California Bar in 2000 and the Oklahoma Bar in 2004 and is a member of the American Bar Association.
