Jim Sharrock Honored with OBA
Outstanding Service to the Public Award

Jim Sharrock, a shareholder and corporate attorney with McAfee & Taft, is the recipient of the Oklahoma Bar Association’s 2009 Outstanding Service to the Public Award.  He was honored at the OBA’s General Assembly on November 6th.

Sharrock was commended for the countless volunteer hours he has dedicated to organizations across Oklahoma City, including more than 17 years with Leadership Oklahoma City.  He first became involved as a member of LOKC Class X and has served in a variety of leadership positions, including having just completed his second term as president.  Sharrock is also a past recipient of the Leadership Oklahoma City Paragon Award that recognizes outstanding service to the community.

Sharrock is a long-time board member and founding president of Rebuilding Together, chair and current board member of the Rotary 29 Foundation, member and former president of Rotary Club of Oklahoma City, and former president of the Edmond Schools Foundation.  He also served his country from 1970-1978 as an artillery officer in the U.S. Army Reserves.

In 2008, Sharrock was recognized for his professional and civic contributions to the state by being named to The Journal Record's list of Leadership in Law honorees.  He credits former OBA President C.D. Northcutt and other small-town lawyers as early professional influences saying they were “recognized not only for their specific expertise, but also for how they used that expertise in service to the community.”
