Jay Shanker panelist for Oklahoma Music Business 101

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - March 9, 2011

 
McAfee and Taft attorney Jay Shanker will serve as a panelist, along with fellow music industry experts, in the upcoming music industry panel entitled "Oklahoma Music Business 101" on Saturday, March 26, 2011, in Oklahoma City and again on Sunday, March 27, 2011, in Tulsa.

The event will cover basic economics for aspiring artists who want to advance in the business. Also discussed will be the question of how to expand your income and music name once your goal as an successful artist has been met.

The Oklahoma City event will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at The Blue Door, 2805 N. Mickey, northeast of the Oklahoma City University campus (moved from the originally scheduled location at Kamp's). The Tulsa event will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at The Ivey, 3340 S. Peoria. More information about these events and a link to register can be found at www.okmusicbiz101.com.

Shanker has spent the last 30 years practicing entertainment law. He joined McAfee & Taft in 2005 and practiced in Los Angeles previous to that. His music representation practice extends to artists, managers, and film/TV licensing of music in the US and abroad. He has lectured on entertainment law at UCLA, USC, the American Film Institute and the OU and OCU law schools, and is the co-author of "Entertainment Law & Business" (Juris Publishers).
