Jay Shanker Elected Vice Chair of Oklahoma Creativity Project

Oklahoma City, OK - April 18, 2006

Jay Shanker, an entertainment lawyer with McAfee & Taft, has been elected a vice chair of the Oklahoma Creativity Project.  

The organization was launched to serve as a statewide facilitator and catalyst for innovation and creativity in the areas of business, education, government and the arts in Oklahoma as the state enters its second century. The recently formed 501(c)3 will be chaired by Burns Hargis (Bank of Oklahoma) and co-chaired by Shanker, Susan McCalmont (Kirkpatrick Foundation) and Scott Booker (Manager, Flaming Lips).

Shanker is a veteran entertainment industry attorney whose practice encompasses all aspects of entertainment, online and new media law.  Prior to joining McAfee & Taft in 2005, he practiced law in Los Angeles for nearly 25 years.  His individual clients have, over the years, garnered prestigious international awards in every major creative media, including Oscar, Emmy, Grammy and Clio award recognition.

In addition to being a published author on law and the entertainment industy, Shanker serves as an adjunct professor of law at both the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma City University, and has lectured on entertainment industry legal matters at UCLA, USC and the American Film Institute (“AFI”) in Los Angeles and New York.
