Vanessa R. Brown Joins McAfee & Taft

Oklahoma City, OK - April 19, 2006

McAfee & Taft, Oklahoma’s largest law firm, has announced that Vanessa R. Brown has joined the firm as its newest associate.  Her practice is concentrated in the areas of Native American law and state and federal litigation.

Prior to joining McAfee & Taft, Brown was an associate in the New York office of the international law firm of Hughes Hubbard & Reed.  In addition to handling cases involving major pharmaceutical legislation, trademark registration and white collar crime, she also served as the firm’s contact person for the State of Oklahoma on tribal issues.

The Little Axe, OK, native holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Juris Doctor from Rutgers School of Law.  While in law school, she served as an editor of Rutgers Law Review and vice president of the Student Bar Association.  She was also an active member of the university’s Association of Black Law Students, Rutgers Law Appointments Committee, Rutgers Career Services Committee and Minority Student Program Committee.  She also served as a member of the executive board of the Rutgers Loan Repayment Assistance Program until earlier this year.
