Jennifer Wheeler and Michael LaBrie Honored as "Achievers Under 40"

Oklahoma City, OK - May 3, 2005

Jennifer Wheeler and Michael J. LaBrie, shareholders with the law firm of McAfee & Taft, have been named to the Journal Record’s second class of “Achievers Under 40.”   

“The Journal Record’s ‘Achievers Under 40’ event was started to celebrate, recognize and honor the talent, creativity and leadership of the set under 40,” said Mary Mélon, publisher.  “This group represents our future – and from the quality of nominees we received, it is clear we are in good hands.”

The winners, which will be honored at a special tribute on May 20th and profiled in a special publication of the Journal Record, were chosen by a committee comprised of area leaders.   

Jennifer Wheeler is a transactional attorney whose practice is concentrated in the corporate and securities area. In addition to being a featured speaker at Sarbanes-Oxley and Corporate Counsel seminars, she is the author of “Section 307 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act:  Irreconcilable Conflict with the ABA’s Model Rules and the Oklahoma Rules of Professional Conduct?”, published by the Oklahoma Law Review and “Preparing Proxy Materials in an Electronic Age,” published by The Journal Record.

Wheeler is a member of the Oklahoma County, Oklahoma and American Bar Associations, Executive Women’s Forum, Leadership Oklahoma City Alumni Association and Juliette Lowe Leadership Society.  She also serves as secretary of the Philharmonic Associate Board.

Michael J. LaBrie is a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office and serves as the practice group leader for the firm’s intellectual property group.  He is a contributing author of “State Trademark and Unfair Competition Law” and has presented papers and spoken on various intellectual property topics at continuing legal education seminars.  His achievements in the area of intellectual property law have earned him inclusion in The Best Lawyers in
America.

LaBrie is a member of the Oklahoma County, Oklahoma and American Bar Associations, American Intellectual Property Law Association, International Trademark Association, National Society of Professional Engineers and Oklahoma Society of Professional Engineers.

Active in the community, he serves as secretary of the board of directors for i2E, Inc; director for Oklahoma Venture Forum; director of the
Cleveland County chapter of Christmas in April; and chairman of the Norman Planning Commission.  He is also a member of the Norman Chamber of Commerce and Norman Public Schools Foundation.
