AIChE Names Mary Ellen Ternes Technical Section Chair of Environmental Division | |

OK - January 15, 2007The American Institute of Chemical Engineers has appointed Mary Ellen Ternes, an environmental attorney with McAfee & Taft, as Technical Section Chair for Legislation and Regulation for its environmental division. In this new role, she is responsible for developing, organizing, and chairing educational sessions for AIChE national seminars in the growing area of environmental legislation and regulation. Ternes’ work in this area is complemented by her work as a member of the American Bar Association’s Section of Environment, Energy and Resources (SEER) Council and its Education Service Group.
Ternes, whose legal practice is devoted to all facets of environmental law, holds a engineering degree from Vanderbilt University and served as a chemical engineer with the Environmental Protection Agency and industry for ten years before graduating from law school. She is an active member and frequent presenter at seminars sponsored by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Environmental Federation of Oklahoma, Air and Waste Management Association, and American and Oklahoma bar associations. Her achievements in the area of environmental law have earned her inclusion in the International Who’s Who of Environmental Lawyers and The Best Lawyers in America.
