McAfee & Taft Names Buchanan, Rader New Shareholders

McAfee & Taft, Oklahoma’s largest law firm, has named attorneys Brandon L. Buchanan and Jennifer Beth Rader as shareholders.  The announcement was made by managing director Richard D. Nix.

Brandon L. Buchanan is a trial attorney whose state and federal litigation practice is focused on labor and employment law, products liability defense, mass torts, and litigation involving healthcare, insurance and construction disputes.   He represents both plaintiffs and defendants in complex civil litigation matters and defendants in employment-related litigation. Buchanan also has extensive experience defending healthcare providers in malpractice lawsuits.

Prior to joining McAfee & Taft in 2005, Buchanan was a litigation associate with another Oklahoma City-based civil practice law firm.  He has also served as legal advisor to the Oklahoma State Senate Judiciary, clerk to Oklahoma Supreme Court Justice Marian P. Opala, and legislative director for the University of Oklahoma's Norman campus and Health Sciences Center.  Buchanan is a 1996 graduate of the University of Oklahoma and a 2000 graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Law.  He also studied law for a year at the University of Oxford.

Jenna Rader’s practice encompasses all areas of intellectual property, including trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and litigation.  She also has experience in advertising, entertainment and sports law.  Rader handles complex transactional intellectual property issues for a variety of foreign and domestic clients, with particular emphasis in the food, clothing, banking and oil and gas industries.  She has also successfully handled dozens of cases in federal court and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB).

Prior to entering law school, Rader chaired the science department and taught physics, anatomy, chemistry and biology at Crescent High School in Crescent, OK.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry from Southern Nazarene University and a Juris Doctor with highest honors from the University of Oklahoma.
