McAfee & Taft Shareholders Elect Rick Mullins and Jim Webb to Board of Directors

Oklahoma City, OK - January 19, 2009

The shareholders of McAfee & Taft, Oklahoma’s largest law firm, have elected Rick Mullins and Jim Webb as the newest members of its board of directors.  They join Richard Craig, Michael Joseph, Michael Lauderdale, Elizabeth Tyrrell and managing director Richard Nix on the seven-member board.

In addition to serving as the firm’s litigation practice group leader, Rick Mullins is a trial lawyer whose practice encompasses numerous forms of business-related litigation, including cases involving healthcare issues, Medicare fraud and abuse, business torts, products liability, oil and gas, antitrust, insurance coverage, employment matters, real estate and other commercial controversies.

Mullins earned his law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.  His achievements in the area of healthcare litigation have earned him inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America.

Jim Webb is a trial lawyer whose practice involves the gamut of business-related litigation, including products liability, mass tort (including asbestos defense), labor and employment, insurance, real estate, oil and gas, and other commercial controversies. He was one of the lawyers who tried the case on behalf of The Professional Basketball Club, LLC (owner of the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder) against the City of Seattle, leading to the team's relocation to Oklahoma City.

In addition to serving on the board of directors, Webb serves as co-chair of the firm’s Recruiting Committee and member of the firm’s Associate Committee. His responsibilities in those roles include helping coordinate the firm’s recruiting activities (both law school and lateral candidates) and helping new lawyers assimilate into the vibrant life of the firm.

Webb earned his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis and his bachelor’s degree from Austin College.  His achievements in the area of litigation earned him recognition as a "local litigation star" in the 2009 edition of Benchmark Litigation. He has also been recognized for his professional and civic contributions to the state by being recently honored with the Oklahoma Bar Association's Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award, the Oklahoma County Bar Association Community Service Award, and the Journal Record's list of Leadership in Law honorees.
