Frank L. Polk, leader of the firm’s aviation practice group, will be a featured speaker on the Cape Town Convention and Aircraft Protocol, an ambitious and unique international treaty that establishes comprehensive laws in each ratifying country dealing with essentially all aspects of buying, selling, leasing and financing aircraft and engines. Polk’s conference presentation will focus on providing practical advice on how lenders and lessors can protect their assets both under the existing aircraft rules and under the forthcoming Cape Town Convention.
McAfee & Taft’s aviation attorneys have been involved in the U.S. ratification process of the treaty for several years. That involvement has included meetings with Unidroit Aviation Working Group, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Department of Transportation and State Department, and leading practitioners around the world to discuss, understand and form various aspects of the Convention and its implementation around the world.
