A tip of the cap to Chee Her
The pressures of a busy work schedule, family and community life, and graduate school studies are no match for McAfee & Taft’s own unflappable Chee Her.
This month, the legal secretary in McAfee & Taft’s Tulsa office graduated summa cum laude with a master’s degree in health care administration from the Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences while continuing to work full time, care for her husband and three children, and serve as a leader in her church. Family from Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and Florida traveled to Tulsa to attend her graduation.
This is the second time Chee has walked the stage in cap and gown since joining McAfee & Taft in 2010. Two years ago, she earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration.
While Chee has downplayed her accomplishments, her friends and colleagues are lauding her achievements and extraordinary character.
“Chee Her is one of the most unique people I have ever had the pleasure to know,” said healthcare attorney Barry Smith.
“She seems to stand out just for being incredibly humble and unflappable and for her always-smiling efficiency. Behind that friendly exterior, however, lies a fierce loyalty, intelligence and drive. She is truly one of the finest people I have ever known. Her presence improves those around her.”
“Chee is exceptionally talented and has excelled in her education with grace and apparent ease,” said family law attorney Brita Cantrell.
“Of course, a master’s degree is no small task and the achievement is a credit to Chee’s skills, temperament and work ethic. Congratulations, Chee!”
Tulsa office manager Sherri Dawson said Chee is loved by everyone in the Tulsa office.
“She is kind, loyal, hard working, and always has a smile,” said Dawson. “If Chee has ever had a bad day, nobody knows about it. Her positive disposition is inspiring. I think it’s safe to say we all would like to be more like Chee.”
