The Affordable Care Act, also known as “Obamacare,” was enacted in March of 2010. The law contains two parts, the Affordable Care Act and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act, which were designed to help address the gaps and limitations in the previous public and private health care systems.

In his presentation titled “ACA Legal Update: Is the hardest part behind us or ahead of us,” McAfee & Taft employee benefits attorney Brandon Long discusses how the Affordable Care Act affects employers and employees at the 2015 SouthWest Benefits Association’s Regional Health Care Benefits Forum. Topics covered include:

  • New developments in 2015
  • Upcoming guidance – what do we expect and hope for?
  • Common mistakes
  • What employers should be focused on – right now

The Regional Health Care Benefits Forum is a one-day event discussing many issues affecting employers and plan participants, including healthcare initiatives, ACA legal updates, risk management strategies for pharmacy benefits, non-traditional approaches to affordable quality care, and leveraging the power of price, cost and quality transparency.
