In the event of a data breach or other cyber incident, having the right cyber insurance policy can help an organization mitigate its risk exposure. Not all insurance policies provide the same coverage, though.
Speaking at the TechAdvantage 2018 Conference & Expo in Nashville, TN, in a presentation titled “Activating Your Cyber Insurance,” McAfee & Taft attorney Anna Imose explains the necessity of obtaining a stand-alone cyber insurance policy, what types of coverage to look for in a policy, and what gaps and exclusions in coverage are common. Topics include:
- Why standard business insurance policies, including commercial general liability and D&O policies, generally don’t cover cybersecurity incidents
- Prioritizing the implementation of network safeguards
- Seeking legal advice once a breach is discovered
- Protecting post-breach documents with privilege
