Americans with Disabilities Act: ADA Danger Zone

Oklahoma Municipal League Employment Seminar

The Americans with Disabilities Act is one of the most complex set of laws regulating the workplace, so it’s not surprising that employers often get tripped up by its various aspects and requirements. In a presentation titled “Americans with Disabilities Act: ADA Danger Zone,” McAfee & Taft employment lawyer Charlie Plumb assists HR professionals and other officials from Oklahoma municipalities in navigating three specific, often confusing, aspects of the ADA. Topics include a review of the employer’s obligation to provide reasonable accommodations for those with disabilities, plus more detailed guidance for how to interactively accommodate, how to deal with employee drug and alcohol use, and when to use fit-for-duty evaluations.
