Attorney Susan Shields Joins McAfee & Taft

McAfee & Taft, Oklahoma’s largest law firm, has expanded its tax and family wealth practice group with the addition of Susan B. Shields. An accomplished tax attorney with more than 18 years of experience, Shields’ practice focuses on wealth transfer tax planning, business planning for closely held family businesses, estate and trust administration, business entity formation, and the formation and administration of tax-exempt organizations. Prior to joining McAfee & Taft, Shields was a partner with another Oklahoma-based law firm.

Shields’ experience and expertise have earned her recognition in The Best Lawyers in America (Trusts and Estates) and Oklahoma Super Lawyers (Estate Planning and Probate, Tax, and Business/Corporate), where she was named to the prestigious “Top 25 Female” and “Top 50 Oklahoma Lawyers” lists.

Shields is a graduate of Stanford University and the UCLA School of Law and is a member of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, Oklahoma City Estate Planning Council, State Bar of California, and the Oklahoma County, Oklahoma and American Bar Associations.  She is also a frequent speaker and author on a variety of taxation issues including estate planning, probate and non-profits and has served as an adjunct professor of law in estate planning at the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
In addition to donating her time as a volunteer and member of the board of directors for the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits, Shields also serves on the board of directors for SpiritBank.
