
Genni Ellis is a registered patent attorney whose practice encompasses all areas of intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and related licensing and litigation.
Genni’s patent practice includes conducting prior art searches, advising clients on the patentability of inventions, preparing and prosecuting domestic and international patent applications (plant, design, and utility), preparing infringement and validity opinions, negotiating and drafting patent licensing agreements, and representing clients in patent infringement litigation. Drawing from her undergraduate studies and work in the field of public health, her areas of technical focus are life sciences and chemistry.
Genni’s trademark practice involves the clearance, preparation and prosecution of marks, licensing transactions, trademark enforcement, and opposition and cancellation proceedings. She also represents clients in e-commerce matters, advises on a myriad of issues related to the protection and commercialization of their intellectual property assets, and handles due diligence associated with business transactions involving intellectual property portfolios.
Genni’s copyright practice involves preparation and prosecution of copyright filings.
Genni earned a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in chemistry from the University of Oklahoma, a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from the University of Alaska, a master’s degree in public health from Walden University, and her Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Prior to entering law school, she worked for both the State of Alaska Department of Health and the State of Alaska Department of Education. While in law school, she served as an intellectual property legal intern for the U.S. Navy’s Office of Counsel – Naval Surface Warfare Center, where she researched and drafted patent applications for submission to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on behalf of the U.S. Armed Forces.
