Jessica Battson is a litigator whose state and federal insurance litigation practice is focused on defending insurance carriers in personal and commercial coverage disputes and against claims of bad faith and breach of contract, as well as defending insurance agents against allegations including negligent procurement of insurance. Her practice focuses primarily on working hands-on with clients and their representatives in discovery-intensive litigation and complex institutional discovery matters, including the use of e-discovery platforms for Fortune 100 companies involving hundreds or thousands of claim files and a wide range of policies.
Since entering private practice in 2012, Jessica has developed hands-on experience in every phase of insurance defense litigation, including managing discovery and e-discovery; preparing corporate representatives and client witnesses for depositions and trial; deposing plaintiffs, public adjusters, and other witnesses; preparing arguments in legal briefing; arguing motions in court; and advocating for her clients throughout Oklahoma.
After graduating with distinction from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 2009, Jessica began her career as a public defender for Tulsa County Office of Public Defender for two years, where she won multiple hearings and successfully chaired several jury trials. Prior to joining McAfee & Taft in 2025, the California native was a partner with a Tulsa-based boutique litigation firm specializing in insurance coverage and insurance litigation.
Jessica’s achievements have earned her inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America (commercial litigation; insurance law).
