Overview

Kelsie Sullivan is a trial lawyer whose practice is devoted to representing insurance carriers of all sizes, including a number of Fortune 500 clients, in all phases of insurance law and litigation. While the majority of her practice is focused specifically on defending insurers in personal and commercial coverage disputes and bad faith litigation, she is also often called upon to provide counsel to insurers regarding claims handling, coverage issues, and dispute avoidance.

Her extensive hands-on case management and trial experience includes directing and managing complex institutional discovery processes, including the use of e-discovery platforms for Fortune 100 companies involving thousands of claim files; deposing subject matter experts in multiple fields, including engineering, construction, medical and insurance claims; preparing and presenting company executives, senior management, adjusters and employees for depositions; arguing and presenting all level of oral arguments to federal and state courts, including dispositive motions, evidentiary motions, and discovery motions; trying cases before state and federal trial courts; appeals; and advocating for her clients in mediations, administrative proceedings, and court judicial settlements in both state and federal courts.

Active in the legal community, Kelsie is a member of the Tulsa County Bar Association, Oklahoma County Bar Association, Oklahoma Bar Association, and Defense Research Institute and serves in multiple leadership positions with the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC), including as chair of the organization’s Property Insurance Law Section, vice chair of the Insurance Coverage Section, and as a regular contributing editor to the Property Insurance Law Section’s newsletter.

Kelsie’s achievements as a trial lawyer have earned her inclusion in Best Lawyers (commercial litigation; insurance law; insurance litigation; personal injury litigation – defendants) and Oklahoma Super Lawyers.

After graduating with distinction from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2004, Kelsie spent more than 10 years practicing in Oklahoma City, gaining valuable experience in the fields of labor and employment law and litigation, insurance law, insurance coverage and litigation, personal injury litigation, products liability and complex business litigation, prior to moving to Tulsa and joining a boutique litigation practice specializing in insurance law, coverage and defense litigation. She joined McAfee & Taft in 2025.

Representative Experience

  • Obtained jury verdict for major insurance company in federal case where insured claimed carrier failed to handle their claim for earthquake damage in good faith.
  • Obtained jury verdict for major insurance carrier in case where insured claimed carrier failed to defend the insured in a liability claim.
  • Obtained jury verdict for major insurance company in case where insured plaintiff claimed client failed to handle their uninsured motorist claim in good faith.
  • Obtained multiple summary judgments on behalf of clients in both state and federal courts.
