As a paralegal with the firm’s Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Group, Lisa McKinzie provides support to attorneys engaged in all aspects of employee benefits law, including qualified retirement plan consulting and design, health care reform consulting, health and wellness plan consulting and design, executive compensation, and ERISA litigation.

Lisa’s career experience in the benefits industry runs deep. Prior to joining McAfee & Taft, she worked as an industry insider for more than 22 years, gaining valuable experience and insights into the complex and ever-changing field of health care benefits coverage while working for a number of leading regional and national third party administrators, insurance companies, and benefits consulting firms. Her extensive benefits experience includes work in the areas of group medical, dental and ancillary insurance account management, quality assurance, claims examination, claims processing, customer relations, provider relations, employee training, HIPAA compliance and notification requirements, protection of protected health information, and compliance with the Affordable Care Act and other federal and state regulations.

Lisa holds an accident, health and life insurance license from the Oklahoma Insurance Department.

In addition to working full-time as a paralegal, Lisa volunteers her time for CASA of Oklahoma County, Inc., a nonprofit organization whose mission it is to provide trained, caring volunteers to be a champion for the individualized best interests of children in foster care.  CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers function as officers of the court and are considered the “eyes and ears” of the juvenile court judge, offering a neutral, third-party opinion that is unbiased and child-focused.
