Matthew Cecconi is a trial and appellate lawyer whose practice is focused on the resolution of a broad range of civil litigation matters, including complex business disputes, in state and federal courts and arbitration proceedings.
He also devotes a significant portion of his practice to defending national insurance companies against claims of bad faith, fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, negligent underwriting, and violations of consumer protection laws. He also represents insurers in coverage disputes arising under life, auto, property, and commercial general liability insurance policies.
Prior to joining McAfee & Taft, Matthew served as a federal law clerk to the Honorable P.K. Holmes, III of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Arkansas. He leverages his clerkship experience to help clients navigate the intricacies of federal practice and procedure. In addition to his practice, Matthew serves on the board of directors for the Federal Bar Association’s Northern/Eastern Oklahoma Chapter.
Matthew’s achievements have earned him inclusion in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America (insurance law) and Oklahoma Super Lawyers’ list of “Oklahoma Rising Stars,” which recognizes the state’s up-and-coming attorneys.
Before entering law school, he worked in higher education at the University of Tulsa and his alma mater, Occidental College. He also volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in Tulsa County, where he advocated for the best interests of children in the foster care system.
