As a paralegal for the firm’s litigation group, Mitzi Hammond provides support to trial lawyers who represent clients in high-profile products liability cases, class actions, and other complex civil litigation in state and federal courts nationwide. Her responsibilities include preparing and filing pleadings, coordinating inspections and depositions, preparing exhibits for deposition and trial, reviewing and organizing evidentiary and discovery documents, coordinating with expert witnesses, preparing expert disclosures and witness and exhibit lists for trial, and providing on-site litigation support at trial.
Mitzi began her legal career in 1992 and worked at law firms in Kansas, Georgia and Alabama before joining McAfee & Taft in 2012. She has extensive experience in the area of products liability litigation – particularly cases involving the defense of automotive manufacturers – and has also provided paralegal support to lawyers engaged in the practice of family law and the defense of Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA) cases.
The Kansas native attended Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS, and later earned her paralegal certification from Southern Technical College.
