To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day and raise money for a great cause, McAfee & Taft teamed up with The Journal Record on Friday, August 3, to host a cookie baking contest.  For a donation, cookie aficionados (a.k.a.  “judges”) could try as many as they liked, but could only vote for one.  All donations went directly to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s Backpack Program.

Through the Backpack Program, which is part of the Food for Kids Programs, children receive a backpack full of kid-friendly, non-perishable and nutritious food on Friday to sustain them over weekends and school holidays.

Last year, the Backpack Program served 24,371 chronically hungry elementary school students attending 500 schools in Oklahoma.
