Donna Bennett, the smiling face of McAfee & Taft, retires after 42 years of service

On May 5, 2022, the McAfee & Taft family came together for a retirement party for long-time employee Donna Bennett to thank her for 42 years of dedicated service to the firm and to extend its best wishes for a happy and much-deserved retirement.

Since joining McAfee & Taft in March 1980, Donna has been a hardworking, cheerful and dependable presence at the firm, always providing support to attorneys, staff and clients whenever and wherever it was needed.  At the urging of her best friend Trisha Perdue, who started at the firm a year earlier, Donna began her career working in the firm’s mail room.  After several years, she then transferred to the copy center and worked there for five years before making the reception desk her home for the last 30+ years.  At the reception in her honor, Matt Bown, the firm’s chief operating officer, described Donna as “the smiling face who has taken care of the front door of the firm for so long.”

Throughout her time at McAfee & Taft, Donna was also well known for her generous and caring spirit.  According to her colleague and supervisor Yamarie Pigg, in addition to spearheading the firm’s recycling initiative, Donna was always among the first to help organize fundraising events for worthwhile causes – from preparing gift bags for students at an inner-city elementary school sponsored by the firm to assembling care packages for U.S. military servicemen and servicewomen during the holidays.

“Donna brings happiness everywhere she goes, and so she will be missed very much,” said Perdue.

Thank you, Donna, for your unwavering dedication and professionalism.  We appreciate you!
