Eminent Domain: Legal Update

The Supreme Court’s ruling in Kelo v. City of New London has changed the landscape of eminent domain.  New rulings have given the government unprecedented legal power to take property and have left many property owners outraged.

This one-day seminar will provide a current, balanced perspective of both sides of this pressing legal issue and help participants understand the distinction between "for public use" and "for public benefit" so that they can determine if a potential taking is justified.

Topics include:
How recent case law and legislative developments will impact you
     Key eminent domain concepts
     Understanding just compensation
Strategies for effectively settling the action on behalf of the landowner
The debate between government rights and property owner rights

This seminar is offered through the National Business Institute and has been approved for the following continuing education credit:  CLE 7.0 hours, Real Estate 6.0 hours, Surveyor 6.0 hours, and AIA 6.0 hours.
