At The Podium
Employer, Are you ready for the radical changes to the overtime law?
Charles S. Plumb
Last month, the U.S. Department of Labor released new Fair Labor Standards Act overtime regulations that will expand the eligibility of overtime for millions of employees who were previously classified as exempt. These regulations go into effect December 1, 2016, giving employers a little over six months to prepare for the changes. Salaried executive, administrative and professional employees who meet the duties test must now earn $47,476 annually or they will be entitled to overtime pay.
While speaking at the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce Business Seminar, McAfee & Taft labor and employment attorney Charlie Plumb provides an overview of the new rules and how they will potentially impact payroll and operations, assists employers in evaluating their options for dealing with the new rules, and discusses why now is a good time for every employer to review its compensation policies.
