Erin Van Laanen Named to International Who’s Who of Aviation Lawyers 2006
Erin Van Laanen, a shareholder with the law firm of McAfee & Taft, has been named to The International Who’s Who of Aviation Lawyers 2006 (2nd edition). Van Laanen is one of 74 attorneys in the United States, and one of only 303 attorneys worldwide, to be named to the highly selective list of pre-eminent aviation lawyers. Her selection automatically qualifies her for inclusion in Who’s Who Legal – The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers 2007.
In her law practice, Van Laanen represents and counsels local, national and international clients on a wide variety of aviation matters, including aircraft title and registration, financing and leasing, matters concerning the U.S. Federal Aviation Act and the FAA Aircraft Registry in Oklahoma City, and the Cape Town Convention.
In recent years, Van Laanen and her aviation colleagues at McAfee & Taft were involved in the United States ratification process of the Cape Town Convention, an international treaty that impacts essentially all aircraft transactions involving aircraft registered in the United States. That involvement included meetings with Unidroit, Aviation Working Group, Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Transportation and State Department and leading practitioners around the world to discuss, understand and form various aspects of the Convention and its implementation around the world.
Van Laanen is also a frequent speaker at aircraft conferences sponsored by the Strategic Research Institute, American Bar Association, ABA Forum on Air and Space Law, National Aircraft Finance Association, Federal Bar Association-Oklahoma City Chapter, and the International Institute for Research.
McAfee & Taft is one of the largest, most experienced law firms in the Southwest, serving clients throughout the region and nationally in the areas of aviation, business law, corporate and securities, employee benefits, environmental law, healthcare, intellectual property, labor and employment, litigation, oil and gas, real estate and tax and family wealth.
