Fall 2007 Labor & Employment and Employee Benefits Seminar

"Avoiding Bedlam in the Workplace" is the theme of this fall’s football-inspired Labor & Employment and Employee Benefits Seminar.

Registration opens at 7:45am, and tailgating (continental breakfast-style) begins at 8:00am.  Our luncheon guest speaker is State Treasurer Scott Meacham.

Participants at this complimentary seminar will have their choice of nine breakout sessions throughout the day.

First Quarter:

  Preparing for and litigating employment claims (including a discussion of e-discovery rules)
Look Out for the Quarterback Sneak!  Strategies for uncovering the hidden costs within your retirement plans and for keeping compliant with the latest DOL disclosure requirements

Second Quarter
Play-By-Play Analysis
:  Tips for conducting an effective internal investigation of employment claims
Reading the Blitz:  How to avoid being blindsided by the latest rules and regulations affecting health and retirement plans

Third Quarter
Determining Player Eligibility:
  How changing immigration laws may impact your team roster (with Rick Manriquez from Immigration and Customs Enforcement)
Don’t Settle for the Touchdown – Score the Extra Point!  Strategies for uncovering  healthcare plan savings from little-known places

Fourth Quarter
The Triple
Option:  FMLA, ADA and Workers’ Compensation
Training Camp:   A back-to-basics session for understanding common terms, processes and rules governing employee benefits law
Special Benefits Session:  New Regulations under 403(b) — for public schools and tax-exempt organizations (Room 18)
