Five new associates join McAfee & Taft
McAfee & Taft, the state’s largest law firm, has announced that recent law school graduates Melissa J. Cottle, Anna E. Imose, Allison C. Lyons, Brett P. Merritt and William T. Silvia have joined the firm as associates.
Melissa J. Cottle is transactional attorney whose practice encompasses the areas of employee benefits and executive compensation, healthcare administrative and regulatory law, and general business and commercial transactions. She graduated from the Oklahoma City University School of Law, where she served as an articles editor of the Oklahoma City University Law Review, was a recipient of the Emerging Leaders Scholarship, earned 13 CALI award for academic excellence, and worked as both a research assistant and a law library reference assistant.
Anna E. Imose is a trial attorney whose practice is focused on general civil litigation, including insurance litigation and complex business litigation. She graduated from the honors program at Baylor University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and earned her Juris Doctor at the University of Oklahoma College of Law. While pursuing her law degree, she also served as a law clerk to the Honorable David B. Lewis with the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals, worked at U.S. District Court Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Oklahoma
Allison C. Lyons is a transactional lawyer whose practice is concentrated on the representation of clients in matters involving the buying, selling, leasing, financing and registration of aircraft. A portion of her practice is devoted to general commercial matters, including contract drafting and negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, and transaction financing. She graduated summa cum laude from Oklahoma City University School of Law, where she served on the articles committee of the Oklahoma City University Law Review, was a student member of the Ruth Bader Ginsburg American Inn of Court, earned 13 CALI awards for academic excellence, and was active in the Moot Court Society and Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity.
Brett P. Merritt is a corporate lawyer whose practice encompasses a broad range of complex business and commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, corporate financing, corporate governance, securities, business formation, and partnerships. He graduated with highest honors from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he was a Comfort Scholar, served as executive articles editor of the Oklahoma Law Review, was named to the Order of the Coif and the Order of the Barristers.
William T. Silvia is a corporate attorney whose practice encompasses a broad range of business and commercial matters, including contract negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, securities, corporate financing, real estate transactions, and energy industry transactions. He graduated with highest honors from the University of Tulsa College of Law, where he served as articles research editor of the Tulsa Law Review, was named to the Order of the Curule Chair, and served as a law student ambassador for the university and as a judicial intern for the Honorable Carlos Chappelle of the Tulsa County District Court.
