FLSA Update — Preparing for the Radical Changes in Overtime Law

Earlier this month, the U.S. Department of Labor released new Fair Labor Standards Act overtime regulations that will extend overtime eligibility to millions of American workers who were previously exempt. These regulations go into effect December 1, 2016, giving employers a little more than six months to prepare for the changes, which include a minimum salary level increase for executive, administrative and professional employees under the FLSA’s white collar exemption.
While speaking at the Central Oklahoma Human Resources Association (COHRA), McAfee & Taft labor and employment attorney Paige Good provides an overview of the changes to the FLSA’s white collar exemption rules, the impact it may have on payroll and operations, and the steps employers should be taking now to prepare for the upcoming deadline.
