Health Care Update and HIPAA Basics
James C. Prince
While candidate Trump said he would make repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act (ACA) one of his top priorities upon taking office, President Trump has yet to deliver on his pledge three months later. With the GOP-backed American Health Care Act failing to garner enough support from House Republicans in late March 2017, the ACA remains the law of the land … at least for now. So what’s next for health care reform?
Speaking at the 2017 Oklahoma Labor/Management Conference, employee benefits attorney Jim Prince reviews the status of health care reform initiatives in the United States, including several non-legislative alternatives under consideration by the new administration. His presentation also includes a review of employer obligations under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), particularly as it pertains to ensuring the safety and security of protected health information.
This annual conference is designed to provide useful information to anyone who deals with labor/management decisions in the public, private and federal sectors. Attendees include managers, supervisors, local presidents, advocates, HR directors, union officers/stewards, and attorneys.
