Retaliation claims by whistleblowers are on the rise, and it’s not just Title VII claims that should be cause for concern by employers. A number of other laws – including OSHA, Sarbanes-Oxley, Dodd-Frank, and CERCLA – also protect whistleblowers.
Speaking at McAfee & Taft’s EmployerLINC17 seminar in Oklahoma City in a presentation titled “How to Avoid Claims of Retaliation and Whistleblowing,” labor and employment attorneys Elizabeth Bowersox and Tony Puckett discuss how retaliation claims commonly occur, the consequences companies face when a whistleblower lodges a claim, and what steps employers can take to avoid such claims.
