At The Podium

Implications of Foreign Ownership

NBAA 2011 Business Aircraft Transactions Conference

Last year, the Federal Aviation Administration attempted and then pulled back a massive assault on the use of owner trusts as a viable solution to register aircraft which are owned by companies that may not qualify as a U.S. citizen. In this presentation, aviation attorney Frank Polk and his fellow panelists discuss many of the concerns and questions surrounding foreign-owned aircraft. What is the latest on the FAA’s ongoing discussion on this issue? What controls are trustees putting in place to respond to the FAA’s actions? And if the FAA ultimately changes the game in a material way, what are other options for companies that don’t meet the citizenship definition? Are there other national registries that could make sense?
