Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night
Joining more than a million people across the U.S. and Canada, McAfee & Taft attorneys and staff took part in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk Friday, October 26th, in the Oklahoma City Boathouse District. McAfee & Taft was also a proud sponsor of the event.
Family, friends and co-workers gather together to celebrate, honor or remember those touched by cancer. The event raises funds in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. Its mission is to find cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma; ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients; and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
The organization is the largest funder of cutting-edge research to advance cures, investing more than $1.2 billion in research. It also helps patients navigate their cancer treatment and ensures they have access to quality, affordable and coordinated care.
According to the Oklahoma Chapter of LLS, more than $260,000 was raised at the Oklahoma City event this year.
In the firm’s video (above) covering the event, McAfee & Taft shareholder and real estate attorney Joe Lewallen discusses what makes the event so special, how the firm has supported the event, and why this event has a special significance for him and his family.
