McAfee & Taft elects Joe Lewallen shareholder

August 4, 2015

The shareholders of McAfee & Taft, Oklahoma’s largest law firm, have elected real estate and business attorney Joe C. Lewallen Jr. as a fellow shareholder. The announcement was made by managing director Richard D. Nix.

Lewallen is a veteran real estate and business attorney whose practice encompasses a broad range of complex business transactions with an emphasis on all aspects of commercial real estate development, including land acquisition, financing with debt and equity components, and development and construction of retail shopping centers, office buildings, hotels, and mixed-use projects. He joined McAfee & Taft in 2014 after serving nearly 30 years in private practice with two other Oklahoma City-based law firms.

Lewallen’s achievements have earned him inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America (corporate law, real estate law and commercial litigation) and Oklahoma Super Lawyers. In 2013, he was selected by Best Lawyers as the “Oklahoma City Real Estate Lawyer of the Year,” an honor only given to a single lawyer in each legal specialty in each community.

A 1985 graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Law, Lewallen serves on the board of trustees of the Children’s Hospital Foundation and is a member of the Oklahoma County Bar Association, Oklahoma Bar Association, American Bar Association, Commercial Real Estate Council, and International Council of Shopping Centers.

McAfee & Taft serves clients nationally and internationally in the areas of aviation, banking and finance, bankruptcy and business restructuring, business law, corporate and securities, employee benefits, energy, entertainment, environmental law, healthcare, intellectual property, labor and employment, litigation, Native American law, oil and gas, real estate, and tax and family wealth. The firm employs nearly 350 Oklahomans in its Oklahoma City and Tulsa offices.
