Firm names Matt Bown chief operating officer
Oklahoma-based McAfee & Taft, one of the nation’s 250 largest law firms, has named local executive Matt Bown to the newly created position of chief operating officer. In this role, Bown will be responsible for managing the firm’s business and financial operations, overseeing the firm’s administrative and professional departments, and working directly with the managing director and board of directors on strategic growth, risk management, organizational development, and profitability initiatives.
“We are delighted to have Matt join us at this important time in our firm’s history,” said managing director Richard Nix. “While we have experienced tremendous growth over the last 10 years, we believe our ongoing investments in talent and technology will continue to pay off in the coming years. We remain exceptionally well-positioned to grow our client base, expand our reach and client offerings, and improve the efficiency with which we deliver those services, and we are confident in Matt’s experience and leadership skills to help us achieve these goals.”
Prior to joining McAfee & Taft, Bown served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Oklahoma-based Dean McGee Eye Institute, one of the nation’s largest and most respected ophthalmology institutes, for 19 years.
Bown holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration from Drury University and is a certified public accountant. He began his career in public accounting, spending nine years with KPMG.
Active in the community, Bown currently serves as president and member of the board of directors of the OKC All Sports Association and as treasurer and member of the board of directors of the Rotary Club of Oklahoma City. He also serves on the board of directors of Leadership Oklahoma City.
