Researchers with London-based Chambers & Partners Publishing, publishers of the 2008 guide, conducted more than 14,000 interviews of attorneys and clients throughout the United States to identify and rank the nation’s leading business lawyers.  The final rankings are based on such factors as technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial awareness/astuteness, diligence, commitment, and other qualities most valued by the client.

Contributors to the 2008 edition praised McAfee & Taft’s corporate/commercial transactional practice, describing the team as “the best lawyers in the state, from top to bottom” and recognizing its diversity of expertise that is “able to bring value to any deal, and cope with any given problem.”  The firm’s labor and employment practice group was noted for its “good balance between expertise and attentiveness … which makes it a bargain compared to its out-of-state competitors and every bit as qualified” and praised for its innovative approach, saying it “comes up with ideas and solutions where other firms only see barriers.”  The firm’s real estate group was described as “the brightest of the bright” with “complete respect from the community” and clients prize its “responsive and service-oriented style.”

McAfee & Taft’s litigation practice was praised for its success in combining “the expertise and connections of a larger firm with the attention of a smaller one” and noted for its growth, diversity and increasing expertise, especially in healthcare and intellectual property. The firm’s energy and natural resources practice was recognized as an innovator in the industry and sources described the group as being “able to draw on a wide range of expertise” and “delightful to work with.”

McAfee & Taft serves clients throughout the Southwest and nationally in the areas of aviation, business law, corporate and securities, employee benefits, entertainment, environmental law, healthcare, intellectual property, labor and employment, litigation, oil and gas, real estate, and tax and family wealth.  The firm employs over 250 Oklahomans, including more than 140 attorneys.
